Marathon Season 2 Is Live
Marathon Season 2 is now available to all players, delivering a major content update packed with new gameplay features, progression systems, and challenges. The Season 2 gameplay trailer debuted during State of Play, showcasing what’s new in the latest season.
Explore Dire Marsh (Night)
Season 2 introduces Dire Marsh (Night), a darker and more dangerous version of the original zone. Players can expect:
• New mechanics and environmental hazards
• New enemies and combat encounters
• Survival-horror-inspired gameplay elements
• Additional mysteries and high-value loot opportunities
A new area has also been added to the upper rooms of Complex, giving players more locations to explore.
New Equipment for the Darkness
To help players survive the night, Season 2 adds several new tools and equipment options, including:
• Flashlights
• Darksight (night vision) scopes
• Signal flares
• Additional gear designed for low-visibility operations
Meet the Sentinel Runner Shell
The Sentinel Runner shell is designed for defensive and team-support gameplay.
Its abilities include:
• An automated laser platform that destroys incoming grenades and missiles while boosting nearby teammates’ weapon handling
• A proximity mine that traps rushing enemies
• A short-range motion tracker for detecting nearby movement
• Additional tools focused on area control and squad protection
The Cradle Progression System
Season 2 introduces The Cradle, a new progression system that allows players to improve Runner shell stats independently of faction progression.
Key features include:
• Shared upgrades across all Runner shells
• Unlimited reconfiguration with no penalties
• Additional perks unlocked at progression milestones
• Greater flexibility for creating customized builds
Sponsored Survival Limited-Time Mode
Running from June 2–9, Sponsored Survival is a new experimental asymmetric mode.
One crew enters Dire Marsh (Night) first using Sponsored Kits to explore, loot, and survive against UESC forces and new enemies hidden in the darkness. Additional Rook crews are then deployed into the match, with everyone competing for a single final extraction point.
Open Play Week Now Live
Marathon’s first Open Play Week is available from June 2–9 on PlayStation 5, Steam, and Xbox Series X|S.
Players can access the full game during the event, and all progress earned will carry over into Season 2 upon purchase.
