PlayStation’s Fairgames Troubled Development Deepens With Another Exit

Fairgames has had its fair share of issues, from a troubled development to people leaving the studio behind its development, and on that note, another exit! Daniel Drapeau, the games’ director at Haven Studios, has just announced his new role at Warner Bros. Montreal

With this being a big move and a big loss for the team at Haven, this puts Fairgames at an even greater loss as the future of the game is yet again in doubt. This follows from the departure of studio founder Jade Raymond, who left Sony and Haven Studios seemingly out of nowhere, which gave a huge blow to the live-service shooter.

Drapeau announced the switch in a LinkedIn post: “As of this week, I joined WB Games Montreal Inc. as a Creative Director. I can’t wait to start this wonderful adventure with all the great people here at the studio. I also want to particularly thank Yves Lachance, Logan A. Lesage and Bryan Theberge for their trust and support throughout the process. Now, let’s do this!” Drapeau seems ecstatic to move to another studio… Does this underline how torrid the development has been for Fairgames

Whilst there is no word about what title Drapeau is working on as yet, there is nothing hinting on his LinkedIn page as yet. What we do know is that Warner Bros. are working on yet another live service title… *sigh*. It would point out that Drapeau could be working on this project given that Fairgames is a live-service title, but that rumour is just a rumour for now and nothing is official.

With the recent shuffle going on at Warner Bros. this is a win for them, gaining a valuable team member, but it looks to be another sharp and wounding blow for Fairgames, as that ship certainly seems to be sinking quicker than the Titanic did. The game was first announced in May 2023 and, ever since then, it has been very quiet, a seemingly forgotten remnant of the past at this point.

What does this spell for Fairgames? Could this be noting out the end of days for the title, or could this be yet another make-or-break moment when they move on? I’m not so sure this game has much steam left in its chamber. With Raymond leaving and now Drapeau, it seems to be lacking leadership and very much lacking direction. For me, Sony should start looking at ways to recoup and focus on the next move, and, as unfortunate as it is, shelf the doomed game.
