In the latest news, industry analyst Micheal Pachter has claimed that the General Manager of the Battlefield series (6 minutes for the juice), Byron Beedle, has spoken to him and said that EA wants Battlefield to become a yearly release. This would be a bold move and would cement the war franchise, and further back the throne that Battlefield Vs Call of Duty is back on the cards.
Byron Beedle, who has that big role over at the Battlefield studios, to make sure that when a Battlefield does release, is that it strikes hard and gives the fans what they want. Now it is reported by Beedle that EA wants to have three studios working on Battlefield in a sort of three-year cycle, so that they can roll a game out annually. Much like Call of Duty does with the studios of Activision, Treyarch, Sledgehammer Games and Infinity Ward.

With that said from Beedle though, Pachter did claim that the studio is about 5–6 years away from releasing a yearly title to compete annually. As much as the claims of Pachter could be true, I am hoping that they aren’t. Now I know, don’t shoot me down just yet. Let me explain, and you might see the truth through the fog of war.
As we as the gaming community have seen, if we look at annual releases where fans can’t quite get on board with how it’s been presented, it is the all-too-familiar franchise we know. Yes, that one, Call of Duty. COD has been released yearly for about as long as I can remember and, whilst it originally worked as an absolute dream when they were releasing peak games in the form of Call of Duty Black Ops 1 and Call of Duty Ghosts, for example, it now feels like we are an absolute far cry away from those titles.
Currently, people are unimpressed with how the teams who developed the famous titles are doing right now. With Black Ops 7 already gaining controversy due to its future set tone and the reported end of campaign Battle Royale mode, fans are getting a little disgruntled. Call of Duty has been hit-and-miss for a few years now, and this is where my point draws: if Battlefield went to the idea of an annual release, would we see blockbusting titles like Battlefield 6? Or would we face the depths of let’s say, Battlefield 2042 or even the underrated gem that is Battlefield Bad Company 2?

Battlefield 6 has been a long time coming, and the eventual success of the title could have EA rethinking their structure. However, if these are the type of titles we are getting on the back of time in creation, then I think I speak for all the gaming community in saying, we can for sure wait for a beautifully crafted game. Hopefully, if the most recent entry to the acclaimed franchise can blaze away the competition, then we may see annual releases which go head-to-head with Call of Duty, but for me, that isn’t the right strategy. Although, it spells out hope for some of the franchises faithfuls as it doesn’t rule out another Bad Company instalment… Oh the glory days.
Either way, us guys here at Everything Nerd are on the edge of our seats eagerly awaiting Battlefield 6 like little kids, and we hope you guys enjoyed the Beta weekend just as much as we did! Are you pre-ordering the game? Let us know in our comments on Everything Xbox!
