Remedy Looks to Control the Payne of FBC with Their Upcoming Games

During Remedy‘s quarterly report, it was noted that Controls sales have gone beyond 5 million units sold! This is absolutely phenomenal for such a creative and unique title. Control has always been one of my favorite games and I love how they crafted an adventure which could easily link many of the universes they have created in recent times, Alan Wake being one of those universes as Alan Wake is connected to Control as they have referenced Mister Wake and accompanying story elements in the Control games and vice versa.

The development of a certain title is going very well and is on track for a successful launch. This game is Control 2, a continuation of the first in the series, giving players more psychological action goodness. Not only that, but giving us more of a deep dive into the world of Control as we look to see more of what the FBC (Federal Bureau of Control) is all about. We don’t quite know too much of what we are expecting to see, however, we do know that Remedy is aiming to create a more diverse and expanded universe which creates new mysteries and expands on the previously established elements of the franchise. Now, this is something worth getting yourself in a twist over!

Onto some other exciting news from the previously mentioned masterminds at Remedy; Max Payne 1 & 2 Remakes are continuing to be developed as planned and currently remain in full production. The excitement surrounding the community who love the Max Payne titles is getting pretty tense, as Rockstar and Remedy are working pretty closely together to tie these two games into one great product. Fans are waiting for a full reveal at some point and, being one of those fans, I’m just happy to know that this baby is being nurtured by a high quality team.

Now onto the bad news. Well, it depends if you are into the game, and it also depends on if you care to notice. FBC: Firebreak‘s launch was pretty… Meh, technically it succeeded very well. However, commercially, the leadership team at Remedy were unsatisfied with the at-launch consumer sales, and that is to be expected as it launched to mixed reviews and people didn’t receive the title too well after it was claimed it struggled in performance and lacked in player retention and community engagement. I played this game, maybe twice? And I found there to be little content to keep me playing the game, not just this, but the actual gameplay wasn’t for me, and as a fan of Control I was disappointed by this.

What do I take from this? I think Remedy should stick to single-player narrative titles, because that is essentially what they do best, and we all know this. Following the unruly release of Firebreak, we just want something good from Remedy in terms of a good single-player experience, so maybe just give us a reveal for Control 2 or Max Payne guys, please!
