First party Xbox titles and Microsoft published titles that have crossed over to the PlayStation are dominating Sony’s Top 10 Best-Selling Games chart, holding 6 out of 10 of the top spots this quarter. Sony are currently looking for someone to make their titles available over on Xbox, PC, and Nintendo as well, to capitalize on the trend that Xbox has begun. This is not me saying that “Xbox is number one!” because I simply prefer when people play on whatever platform makes them happy. What I am saying is that this is cold hard proof that people who solely game on PlayStation are looking forward to games coming to them from Xbox-owned studios, and this boils down to the fact that many of the PlayStation studios, whilst they are absolute powerhouses, just simply aren’t producing enough in terms of giving fans new experiences.

As you can see in the chart above, Forza Horizon tops the chart, which is marked as Q2 2025 top 10 best-selling games on PlayStation platforms. Followed by Oblivion Remastered, showing that the newest titles developed over at Xbox Game Studios are putting out more of what the fans want to see. This being said, PlayStation-owned studios are brilliant at bringing out bangers. When they do bring them out, that is. Development between titles is a lengthier period when considering largely narrative driven studios such as Insomniac and Naughty Dog.
What does this tell us as fans? This tells us everything we have been thinking about for a long, long time. The fact is that, nowadays in 2025, a larger portion of gamers have multiple consoles. Whether you are an avid gamer who doesn’t miss a game, or you are a single-console loyalist, we are receiving titles from both ends of the spectrum in terms of blockbuster exclusives, now gaining access to games being produced with multiple consoles in mind rather than just for the Xbox or the PlayStation.

The fact that there is a “console war” has always astonished me and the fact there are people who will defend one console over another till death is crazy to me. Gamers should be united in getting beautifully crafted games which come from studios who do exactly what they do for the fans. Both consoles have had their glory days, but now it’s time to join forces and play amongst each other in the freedom of knowing we are getting a golden age of gaming that comes to both consoles. Whilst, yes, we have seen Xbox be a lot more open about letting their exclusives go over to PlayStation, the numbers don’t lie. People are excited to see console exclusives heading to other platforms as they are eagerly anticipated!
The gamers of the world win by letting exclusives pass to the next console or other gaming platform. Developers of said titles win by selling their games beyond that console exclusivity. Everyone wins! Gamers are eating well this year with titles such as Gears of War heading to PlayStation in August 2025 and then, in return, seeing Helldivers 2 head to Xbox on the SAME DAY!

What do you guys think? Do you guys think that there should still be timed exclusives? Or should the studios relax those rules a little? Let us know in the comments below!
