Next Halo Game | Details Revealed at Halo World Championship 2025

With Halo Infinite having been released back at the end of 2021, it’s been a few years since fans of the beloved and storied franchise have gotten the opportunity to get their hands on a new game. Though players have been treated to a vast array of additional post-release content including new maps, game modes, armors, weapons, etc., the only sequel known to be currently in the works is the upcoming release of Kelly Gay’s novel Halo: The Edge of Dawn.

The developers at Halo Studios (formerly 343 Studios, named for 343 Guilty Spark) have indicated that eager fans should mark their calendars and tune in to the upcoming Halo World Championship this year from October 24th to the 26th for some big announcements. As revealed today on the Halo Waypoint website, their 2025 Esports Championship is where they will be giving players “the official scoop on what we’ve been working on.”

The studio in-charge of developing the next game in the series was founded by longtime fans of the series and was built by the Halo community to create content for the Halo community. So far they have experienced a few missteps and growing pains since taking over the legendary legacy of Master Chief and the complex, lore-heavy universe in which he resides. With that said, they are constantly looking for fresh perspectives and feedback from their collaborators and the fandom to best create the most faithful and enjoyable experience possible.

We are building the future of Halo in Unreal Engine with the help of diverse and passionate developers dedicated to the craft of making Halo games. Based in Redmond, WA, we are a united hybrid team of artists, engineers, designers, animators, producers, storytellers, and dreamers from every walk of life. We are here to be tenacious and adapt to challenges, to raise the bar for ourselves and for the industry, and to do the best work of our careers. We are here to collaborate towards our shared vision of creating legendary, game-changing experiences for Halo fans.

As mentioned in the quoted statement above, the team at Halo Studios is going to be utilizing the stunning resolution and animation capabilities of Unreal Engine 5 to design and develop the next title in the franchise. Based on the images the studio has revealed to showcase some of the renders they’ve been testing out in the engine, it appears that the likelihood of a new Halo: Combat Evolved remake or remaster is all-but certain, though no official word has been released by the studio.

“Over the past few weeks, there’s been a fair amount of speculation about when and where more details might emerge about any of the multiple projects Halo Studios is actively working on. We don’t usually comment on such matters, but this time we want to enter the chat and share a little more perspective for Halo fans who might be on the fence about whether to attend this year’s event. Speculation is always fun, but if you want the official scoop on what Halo Studios has been working on, you won’t want to miss this year’s Halo World Championship.”

Whether or not we’re going to learn of every project the studio is working on remains to be seen, though I’m personally hoping for the announcements of both an Unreal Engine 5 remastered trilogy and a prequel title starring Sergeant Major Avery Junior Johnson of the UNSC… Perhaps I set my sights where limits don’t exist, but until knowing what precisely we’re getting into, I will quote the Master Chief himself by asking, “You have a better idea?”

With all of that covered, I think it’s best we spend some time reflecting on the recent teases and the previous “New Dawn” update from Halo Studios, as they claim that this is “just the beginning.” Maybe the next new game will be an instant classic! What would you like to see the most from the studio? Do you like the idea of a remaster or remake, or would you prefer a prequel or sequel game? I just want more Halo, and until such time as the next official project is released, I’ll be playing Spartan Survivors!
