The gaming world was ecstatic when Team Cherry shocked fans with a look into their next game and a release window for Hollow Knight: Silksong at the Nintendo Switch 2 reveal event just last week.
For some, this means their next Switch console will have what will hopefully be another smash-out-of-the-park title for their Switch successor. But what does that mean for those who will be staying behind a bit longer with the Switch 1?
Well, you can rest easy as Matthew Griffin, who helps with marketing and publishing for Team Cherry put fans fear to rest over on X. Stating “Just to clarify… Hollow Knight: Silksong is coming to both Nintendo Switch and the Nintendo Switch 2.”

Hollow Knight: Silksong has been pushed back numerous times as it was first revealed all the way back in 2019. Team Cherry have certainly been taking their sweet time making sure their next title will in fact be a big one when it releases later this year. Which brings us to the question…when? When can we expect to play Hollow Knight: Silksong? With the launch of the Nintendo Switch 2 just around the corner in June, some are expecting (more hoping) the game will launch alongside the Switch 2 at release.
Hollow Knight: Silksong is also launching on PS5 and Xbox consoles. Just how will the two versions of the game play out at release for the Switch 1 vs the Switch 2? Will there be a difference at all? The Switch 2 is much more powerful than the previous Switch for obvious reasons, but we have to wonder. If Hollow Knight: Silksong runs on “current gen consoles”, then what does that look like with old tech? Think of it this way. How many games have struggled to release the exact same version of the game with the Xbox Series X and the Xbox Series S? Baldur’s Gate 3 ring a bell?
Time will tell as fans await their next experience from Team Cherry and the adventure with Hollow Knight: Silksong. We’ll keep you posted when we know more. Until then, let us know in the comments what you think of Hollow Knight: Silksong releasing on Switch 1 and 2.
