Sony want to acquire From Software

Sony are pushing heavily to acquire From Software’s parent company Kadokawa Corporation. This in turn would be a huge upset in the gaming space. Essentially Xbox and Pc users would be locked out of all upcoming From software games.

Acquiring Studios is the thing to do in this day and age although I am fearful for From software, Sony don’t have the best track record recently for first party games or their studios. Regarding their abysmal launch of Concord this year, the game failed on an epic scale. It was shut down and pulled from stores after not even 2 weeks and a full studio closure after 2 months.

Kadokawa are also a media mogul in Japan, the have movie distribution and publish many manga’s. They also hold developers for a few Dragon quest games and the developer team behind the successful Dragon Ball Sparking Zero. Their capitalization exceeds 2.7 billion but according to Reuters, that number has been steadily declining over the last number of years.

I would personally love if they remained independent and not have forced agendas shoved down their throats or company etiquette altered. From Software are truly a one of a kind developer that pump out AAA games at incredible speeds. With many games needing multiple updates after launch to ‘FIX’ their games, you can always rely on a solid launch by From Soft.

Console exclusivity is so prominent in today’s sphere, no company is truly safe. Many ashen ones will be truly disappointed if they lose true souls games, including myself. I do own all the consoles and Pc but it will be sad day for all souls fans if these are locked to a single console. Sony have indeed been publishing their games to Steam as of late but only a very small percentage of these launch on Pc day one. This will push many to purchase a Ps5.

Gamers will lose either way if this goes through.
